A woman in Florida told WQAD that she was arrested by police after she informed an officer that she was taking an audio recording during a traffic stop.
The woman was pulled over for being in the HOV lane on Interstate 95.
According to WQAD, the woman said she was physically removed from her car by police, and arrested. She was then accused of multiple traffic violations and resisting arrest. She spent the night in jail.
You can hear the cop on the audio recording telling the woman that it was a felony to record a police officer; however, WQAD reports that the Broward County Sherriff’s Office noted in an internal memo in July 2013 that citizens can, legally, record law enforcement officers on the job.
