Teen steals police SUV, leads high-speed chase
A brave (and not-too-bright) 18-year-old steals a police SUV and leads law enforcement officials on a high-speed chase in Colorado.
A teenager girl was pulled over, arrested and placed in the back of an unmarked police SUV. According to 9news.com, the teenage girl somehow managed to get out of her handcuffs, climbed out of the cage and jumped into the driver’s seat of the patrol car.
She headed down the interstate and reached speeds around 100 miles an hour. She had lights and sirens on in the unmarked Expedition she was driving.
Police officers tried to use stop sticks to disable the SUV, but only one of the tires was deflated, and the teen was able to keep going, the story said. Tactical Vehicle Intervention was called in, and a trained officer was instructed to ram the back of the SUV.
After two attempts, the TVI specialist was able to prompt the SUV to veer off the road, roll over and crash. The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital, and police in the story say she will be arrested when she’s released.
