Federal Government calls for investigation of nearly 5 million Jeeps

The federal government is investigating more than five million Jeep vehicles for deadly fuel-tank fires caused my rear-impact collisions, according to an ABC News report.

Mike Palese, a spokesman from Chrysler, estimated that two million of the affected vehicles are still on the road, but said he feels confident that they’re safe.

The investigation could take nearly a year to complete.

The models affected are:

Jeep Cherokees from model years 1993-2001
Jeep Liberty models from 2002-2007
