LAS VEGAS – Blending classic styling with modern performance, the 1978 Chevrolet Performance 4×4 pickup concept demonstrates the limitless possibilities for Chevrolet Performance’s Connect & Cruise crate powertrain systems.

Chevrolet introduced the truck today at the SEMA Show, the annual convention of automotive performance parts and styling accessories. It’s powered by an E-ROD 5.3L system – an emissions-compliant powertrain package that includes an automatic-overdrive transmission, control modules, wiring harnesses and other key components all under one part number.

“Chevrolet Performance continues to make it easier for enthusiasts to build the project vehicle of their dreams and this concept vehicle exemplifies only one of the countless ways enthusiasts can put the comprehensive Connect & Cruise systems to use,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “The innovative E-ROD crate engine also matches high-performance with environmental responsibility.”

The specially calibrated controllers of the Connect & Cruise powertrain systems are designed for retrofit installations in older vehicles, for easier and quicker installation and operation without the need for third-party tuning – and the E-ROD versions include additional equipment that makes them eligible for installation in approximately 20 million 1995-and-earlier cars and trucks in California that predate OBD II on-board emissions diagnostics.

The 327-cubic-inch E-ROD 5.3L engine is rated at 326 horsepower – approximately 80 horses more than the available 454-cubic-inch big-block engine in 1978 – and it’s matched with a 4L70-E automatic transmission. The overdrive transmission enhances the drivability and efficiency of the classic truck, with reduced engine rpm while cruising on the highway.

Chevrolet Performance also offers LS3 and supercharged LSA Connect & Cruise package that are available in E-ROD configurations. All E-ROD systems include complete emissions equipment, such as catalytic converters and a fuel tank evaporative emissions canister.

For builders outside of California, LS376-480, LS376-525 and LS7 Connect & Cruise systems are offered, in addition to the 5.3L, LS3 and LSA packages. Each package – including E-ROD systems – carries a 24-month/50,000-mile limited warranty.

Chevrolet Performance offers a guide for installing an LS-family engine in a vehicle not originally equipped with it. It is available under part number 88959384 and can be purchased through Chevrolet dealerships.

Restored and updated

The classic 1978 Chevy truck’s regular-cab/short-box body features a contemporary black-and-red two-tone paint scheme, along with reconditioning bright exterior trim. New 16×8-inch silver powder-coated wheels wrapped with LT305/70R16 all-terrain tires also contribute to a more contemporary stance.

The restored body is mounted on a refurbished frame that was media-blasted and powder-coated matte black. The front and rear suspensions were restored with rebuilt springs and axles, and all-new bushings. The power steering system was rebuilt, along with the original transfer case.

On the inside, the blend of vintage and new continues with re-trimmed seat weather red leatherette surrounding red-and-black houndstooth cloth inserts. The original instrument panel is updated, too, with modern gauges.

“We couldn’t improve on the vintage styling of this Chevy truck, but with its greater horsepower and comparable torque, the E-ROD 5.3L enhances its capability,” said Campbell. “That’s the essence of Chevrolet Performance’s Connect & Cruise powertrains – giving customers the best modern technology to complement their classic cruiser.”

LAS VEGAS – The Chevrolet Silverado Cheyenne concept vehicle to be unveiled at the SEMA Show on Monday, Nov. 4, embraces the adage that less is more. The performance-oriented version of the all-new 2014 Silverado regular cab combines a reduced curb weight with the performance of the new 420-horsepower 6.2L V-8 for a strong power-to-weight ratio and exhilarating performance.

A lowered ride height, a rear stabilizer bar and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes complement the Cheyenne concept’s high-performance character with enhanced handling and braking capability.

“The Cheyenne concept explores the performance possibilities of the all-new Silverado, which is already built on a mass-efficient layout and delivers a greater balance of performance and efficiency than any other full-size truck in Chevrolet’s history,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing.

The unique lightweight features built into the concept vehicle include carbon fiber replacements for the bumpers, tailgate and inner cargo box, shaving approximately 200 pounds from the 4,503 pounds base curb weight of a 5.3L-equipped Silverado regular cab with a 6’6″ box.

Cheyenne designers matched the form of the lightweight components with their low-mass function. The carbon fiber front bumper includes racing-inspired ground effects styling complemented by carbon body-side ground effects while the carbon fiber tailgate incorporates a spoiler. The hood features a Camaro Z/28-inspired extractor vent.

The Camaro Z/28 Brembo carbon ceramic brakes save more weight because the carbon ceramic-matrix rotors are significantly lighter than conventional steel rotors. On the Camaro Z/28, for example, they save more than 20 pounds – and it saves un-sprung weight, too, which enhances driving performance with more immediate and direct handling. The truck rolls on charcoal-painted 19-inch Camaro Z/28 aluminum wheels and high-performance tires.

The Cheyenne diet removes the trailer hitch, spare tire, interior center console and some of the sound-deadening material. The truck also has a lightweight aluminum driveshaft and composite rear leaf springs.

“Lightweighting is a time-honored method of making the most of a vehicle’s performance which Chevrolet has demonstrated time and again with vehicles like the original 2001 Corvette Z06 and the 2014 Camaro Z/28,” said Perry. “And like those vehicles, the Cheyenne complements its lower weight with more horsepower.”

The all-new EcoTec3 6.2L V-8 that powers the concept truck is rated at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque – the most power in the light-duty truck segment. It’s unavailable in regular-production Silverado regular cab models, giving the Cheyenne a 65-horsepower and 77 lb-ft boost over the production 5.3L V-8. A Borla performance exhaust system adds an authoritative note to the 6.2L’s output.

What remains is the Silverado’s production six-speed automatic transmission, which features hill descent control, as well as fuel-saving electric power steering and StabiliTrak electronic stability control with hill start assist.

Inside, the Cheyenne’s performance theme is conveyed with Recaro sport seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel, similar to the steering wheel offered in the Camaro ZL1. Available safety features, including lane departure warning, front and rear park assist and a rear-vision camera, enhance safety without detracting from the truck’s performance.

All Silverado models feature a fully boxed frame that serves as the foundation for their strength and capability. The main rails and major cross members are formed from high-strength steel, providing a rigid base for maximum hauling capability.

“Elements such as high-strength steel in the frame and body structure are found on all production models, while some also feature aluminum suspension components, contributing to the Silverado’s everyday performance. With the Cheyenne concept, we’ve taken the low-mass concept to a new level – with exciting results,” Perry said.

“It is only a concept right now, but we are continually exploring new ways to give Silverado customers more.”

FAST FACT: Cheyenne was introduced as a premium Chevy truck trim level in 1971. The name also appeared a futuristic 2003 concept vehicle.

DALLAS – Like a finely crafted saddle or pair of custom-fitted boots, the 2014 Silverado High Country embodies rugged luxury – craftsmanship, authenticity and functionality rolled into a truck that’s stronger, smarter and more capable than ever.

It is Chevrolet’s first premium truck and one of the industry’s most capable, backing up an exclusive package of distinctive design elements, comfort and convenience features with segment-topping capability – including the segment’s most powerful V-8 and a 9,800-pound trailering rating.

It goes on sale this fall, priced at $45,100 (including destination charge) for 2WD models equipped with the standard 5.3L engine. The crew cab body is exclusive to the High Country, and it is available with a 5’8″ or 6’6″ cargo box.

Unique content includes a chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, body-color front and rear bumpers – including Chevrolet’s CornerStep rear bumper – and specific 20-inch chrome wheels with P275/55R20 all-season tires. Additional standard equipment includes halogen projector headlamps, along with chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors.

Inside, Silverado High Country features an exclusive saddle brown interior. Heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests are standard, along with Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an 8-inch touch screen, Bose premium audio and front and rear park assist.

“There’s a Western flair to the High Country’s cabin that reflects the truck’s polished yet rugged stature,” said Maria Rohrer, Silverado marketing director. “It’s a passenger environment that’s equally adept when working a ranch during the day and stepping out for the evening.”

Optional features include a sunroof, navigation system and a rear-seat entertainment system with a BluRay/DVD player, as well as a High Country Premium Package that includes heated steering wheel, driver alert package, adjustable pedals and integrated trailer brake controller.

“Silverado High Country adds a higher degree of capability to the premium truck market and broadens the all-new Silverado’s lineup with a unique combination of exclusive features and purposeful technologies,” said Rohrer. “Its class-leading power is matched with the strong chassis and new suspension and drivetrain elements that make the 2014 Silverado 1500 the strongest, most capable and most refined truck in Chevrolet’s history.”

Launched earlier this year, the 2014 models contributed to a 13.9-percent jump in Silverado sales in August, while sales were up more than 25 percent for the first eight months of 2013.

Complementing capability
The Silverado High Country gives customers the capability they want with confident power to back it up, delivering a maximum payload of 1,957 pounds – more than Toyota Tundra and RAM 1500 – and a 9,800-pound towing capacity.

The EcoTec3 5.3L is the High Country’s standard engine, with SAE-certified at 355 horsepower (250 kW) and 383 lb.-ft. of torque (519 Nm), and class-leading V-8 fuel economy of up to 23 mpg highway (2WD models). The available, all-new EcoTec3 6.2L delivers is the segment’s most powerful V-8 engines, with an SAE-certified 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both engines feature direct fuel injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing, producing refined power and torque truck customers demand – and both seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel during light-load driving.

Each engine is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission featuring auto grade braking, which downshifts the transmission on downgrades to reduce brake wear. The brake system includes GM’s new Duralife rotors, which feature a hardened and strengthened surface to reduce corrosion, helping them last up to twice as long as conventional rotors and providing quieter braking with less vibration.

Additional chassis and powertrain details include:

– Electric power steering, which helps save fuel and enables a more consistent, crisp steering feel and plenty of assist for parking maneuvers
– New, larger rear axles with the strength to accommodate the engines’ higher outputs
– Standard locking rear differential with 3.42 ratio
– Standard trailering package, with frame-mounted trailer hitch, seven-pin and four-pin connectors
– Trailer sway control is standard and works with StabiliTrak to provide an added measure of confidence when towing a trailer.
– A fully boxed frame with the main rails and major cross members formed from high-strength steel provides a rigid base for maximum hauling capability, as well as greater noise and vibration isolation – contributing to the Silverado – High Country’s balance of segment-best capability and industry-leading refinement.

The stiff chassis enables more precise tuning of the front and rear suspensions, giving the Silverado a more responsive feel with smoother performance and less vibration and shake, particularly on harsh terrain.

YONKERS, NY- In a heavy-metal duel between two top pickup trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s “Excellent” road-test score makes it Consumer Reports’ top-rated truck. But testers point out that the second-place Ram 1500 may be a better daily driver.

Each model won skirmishes along the way, and they finished one-two in a competitive pickup truck category- separated by only three points. Both trucks outscored the previously-tested Ford’s F150 XLT, which 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbo V6 and 5.0-liter V8 versions rank third and fourth respectively.

The Silverado edged the Ram in several areas important to pickup truck owners. It has a much larger cargo bed, several hundred pounds greater payload capacity, and it can tow a heavier trailer-up to 11,200 pounds in Consumer Reports tests. Its tailgate is easy to raise and lower, and handy corner bumper steps help with climbing into the bed. The Silverado also has a lower step-in height than the Ram, aiding cabin access. Handling is more agile, and the Silverado delivers best-in-class fuel economy of 16 mpg overall-one mpg better than the Ram. That could save owners about 50 gallons of gas per year.

“The reality is that you can’t go wrong with either one. Both are capable trucks that get decent gas mileage and are as quiet inside as a good luxury car,” said Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports.

Consumer Reports opted to test the Silverado’s widely sold 355-hp, 5.3-liter V8 version with four-wheel-drive. The 5.3-liter delivered ample acceleration, but it lacked the thrust of the 5.7-liter V8s in the Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra. The Silverado’s transmission up shifts smoothly and quickly but can be reluctant to downshift, making the truck sometimes feel underpowered.

Towing Consumer Reports’ 5,000-pound trailer to 60 mph took 14.8 seconds, a strong performance. Off-road performance on Consumer Reports’ demanding rock hill course was hampered by wheel spin and ground clearance.

For drivers using their truck more for day-to-day driving, Consumer Reports testers found the Ram is a nicer place to spend your time. It rides better, thanks to its unique rear coil spring suspension. The interior is also more comfortable with better front seats, a nicer rear seat, and a slightly friendlier control layout

Consumer Reports tested the Ram with Chrysler’s 5.7-liter Hemi V8, four-wheel-drive, and a new eight-speed automatic transmission that’s smooth and efficient. Consumer Reports found that combination delivered seamless and effortless power, while returning a relatively good 15 mpg overall. Acceleration is quicker than the Silverado and the Hemi feels much brawnier in real-world driving.

The Ram also brings its own impressive workhorse credentials. Its driver-selectable full-time four-wheel-drive system works well, and the truck scrambled up Consumer Reports’ rock hill with ease. It can tow up to 9,950 pounds when properly equipped. The truck pulled Consumer Reports’ 5,000-pound trailer to 60 mph in 14.9 seconds, a strong showing.

New Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Pickups revealed with EcoTec3 engine

DETROIT – Chevrolet and GMC today unveiled the all-new Silverado and Sierra 1500 pickups, designed to be the most refined, best engineered full-size pickups in the market. Among the many updates for 2014 are dramatic new designs inside and out for each brand; a trio of powerful, efficient EcoTec3 engines that seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to improve efficiency; and quieter, more comfortable, more functional cabs.

“The new Sierra and Silverado are more differentiated than ever in unique features and materials, in their standard content and in their design and details,” said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America. “These are two strong and distinct brands – each one appealing to a different kind of customer.”

So, what’s powering the Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500?

 

 

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 will deliver more power, more torque and improved fuel efficiency, thanks in part to a trio of all-new EcoTec3 engines designed specifically for the needs of full-size truck customers.

The new engine family includes a 4.3L V6, a 5.3L V-8 and a 6.2L V-8.

EcoTec3 engines feature three state-of-the-art technologies – direct injection, cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing – to make the most of power, torque and efficiency across a broad range of operating conditions.

“We believe these are the most technologically advanced engines ever offered in light-duty pickups, and they are 100 percent truck – specifically designed for the way customers use trucks in the real world,” said Jordan Lee, Small Block chief engineer and program manager.

“They have all the power and torque needed to confidently handle the tough jobs, and they seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to increase efficiency during light-load driving.

“This is technology no other truck maker can match, and we offer it in every one of our EcoTec3 engines, for every one of our customers,” said Lee. “It is not an extra cost feature. You get our best and most sophisticated technology regardless of trim level.”

Although they share only a handful of parts with previous Chevrolet and GMC engines, the new EcoTec3 engines build on experience gained from millions of trucks and billions of real-world customer miles, while incorporating the latest in advanced materials and combustion systems.

“The combination of straightforward mechanical systems, the latest in materials, and an advanced combustion system enable us to improve power and efficiency, while also reducing noise and vibration,” said Lee. “We think truck customers will find our new engines to be the right tools for the toughest jobs, while helping hold down ownership costs over the long run.”

A family of three all-new engines
The EcoTec3 lineup for the 2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500 includes a 4.3L V-6 and 5.3L and 6.2L V-8s, all matched with proven, efficient six-speed transmissions in the United States and Canada.

  • The new 4.3L V-6 will offer budget-conscious customers a state-of-the art truck engine, with ample torque to power a crew cab and tow a trailer.
  • The new 5.3L V-8 is engineered for more horsepower, more torque and better fuel economy than the current 5.3L V-8.
  • The new 6.2L V-8 is expected to be the most capable engine offered in any light-duty pickup truck.

SAE certified horsepower and torque ratings and EPA fuel economy estimates for the new Silverado and Sierra will be available beginning early next year.

Advance combustion system drives greater power, efficiency
At the heart of the new EcoTec3 engine family is an advanced combustion system that maximizes the potential of the direct fuel injection system, cylinder deactivation, continuously variable valve timing and other technologies.

Development of this advanced combustion system involved extensive design and engineering by GM’s global powertrain organization. More than 100 iterations of the combustion systems were evaluated through computer modeling before a final design was selected for each engine variant. The overall engine design involved more than 10 million hours of computational CPU time, with the combustion process alone accounting for more than 6 million of those CPU hours.

“Owning a truck doesn’t mean settling for second-best technology,” said Lee. “Our new EcoTec3 engines harness some of the most advanced powertrain technologies in the world to meet the specialized demands of truck owners.”

For example, truck engines often need to provide maximum power under heavy load for long periods of time, such as towing a trailer up a mountain grade or slogging through mud at a job site. A rugged, large displacement engine is well suited to reliably providing this power and torque, year in and year out.

“For the 2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500s, these larger displacement EcoTec3 engines can now instantly switch to four-cylinder mode to improve efficiency when less power is required. It gives customers the best of both worlds – a rugged truck engine when they need it, with improved efficiency in light-load driving,” said Lee.

The ability to more precisely control combustion also enables the new engines to run with a higher compression ratio – 11.0:1 for the versions with regular fuel recommended. This higher compression is one of the best ways to simultaneously increases both power and efficiency.

This increased efficiency can now be maintained over a broader range of operating conditions.  For example, when towing a trailer on a hot summer day, Silverado and Sierra’s advanced combustion system can reduce the need to trim back spark advance to control detonation, helping maintain both performance and real-world fuel efficiency, even when the going gets really tough.

Emissions are also reduced, particularly during cold starts, when hydrocarbon emissions are cut by about 25 percent.

Direct injection for precise fuel metering
New EcoTec3 engines use direct fuel injection, which precisely meters fuel directly into the cylinders, to optimize combustion over a broad range of conditions.

The engines also feature a new cylinder-head design and a new, sculpted piston to optimize the mixing of air and fuel in the engine and the burning of the mixture to create power.

The heads features smaller combustion chambers shaped to complement the unique topography of the piston heads. The smaller chamber size and sculpted pistons produce a compression ratio of 11.0:1 or higher, depending on the engine, while the heads features large, rectangular intake ports with a slight twist to enhance mixture motion.

To further enhance combustion, the intake and exhaust valve positions have been switched from previous versions, and the valves are now slightly canted toward the cylinder centerline. Also, the spark plug angle has been revised and the electrode is now closer to the center of the chamber to support optimal combustion.

The pistons feature unique sculpted topography that was optimized via extensive computer analysis to precisely direct the fuel spray for better mixing and more complete combustion. The contours of the piston heads are machined after casting to ensure dimensional accuracy – essential for precise control of mixture motion and the compression ratio.

Deactivating cylinders to enhance fuel economy
Cylinder deactivation, also known as Active Fuel Management, is now standard on all three engines for the Silverado and Sierra 1500.

The new trucks make the most out of cylinder deactivation, with improved engine mounts, electronic throttle control, adaptive exhaust systems, improved aerodynamics, low-rolling resistance tires, and other technologies that help the engines operate in four-cylinder mode for longer periods of time, further increasing efficiency.

“GM pioneered cylinder deactivation technology, and we consider it a great technology for improving the efficiency of full-size trucks,” said Lee.

The system uses oil pressure, controlled by the powertrain control module, to deactivate the lifters on selected cylinders, closing the valves for those cylinders. It deactivates four of the cylinders on the V-8 engines and two cylinders on the V-6 under light load conditions – operating the engines as a V-4 – and seamlessly reactivates the cylinders when the driver demands greater power. The transition takes less than 20 milliseconds and is virtually imperceptible.

“This is another great example of using a relatively simple mechanical system and powerful software to provide a real benefit to our customers,” said Lee.

2014 Silverado and Sierra EcoTec3 engines features and highlights

Proven truck engine designs:  Although the EcoTec3 engines for the 2014 Silverado and Sierra are all new – sharing just a handful of small parts with previous engines – they build on a foundation of more than 100 million Small Block engines and billions of real-world customer miles.

Engines based on the Small Block architecture are typically smaller and lighter than competitive engines with overhead camshafts, and typically have lower friction.  Although package size is usually not a concern with full-size pickups, lighter weight and lower friction can both contribute to improved efficiency.

Weight-saving aluminum engine blocks: For 2014, all three engines for the Silverado and Sierra use lightweight aluminum blocks with cast-in iron cylinder liners. The blocks were developed with math-based tools and data acquired in GM’s racing programs, providing a light, rigid foundation for a smooth and strong engine.

The deep-skirt block design helps maximize strength and minimize vibration. Cross-bolted main bearing caps are secured to the block with four main bolts and two cross bolts each. A structural aluminum oil pan further stiffens the bottom of the block. The result is an engine that is quieter, smoother and more dependable, even under the toughest conditions.

Advanced oiling system: The oiling system incorporates a new variable-displacement oil pump that enables more efficient oil delivery, based the engine’s operating conditions. Its dual-pressure control enables operation at a very efficient oil pressure at lower rpm, and then delivers higher pressure at higher engine speeds to provide a more robust lubrication.

Oil capacity has been increased to six quarts for the 4.3L V-6 and eight quarts for the V-8 engines.  All engines use GM’s Dexos oil for increased fuel efficiency and longer oil life, and V-8s are engineered to use 0W/20 oil to improve lubrication and reduce friction.

All trucks also feature GM’s oil life monitor, which better protects engines by recommending oil changes based on actual engine operating conditions and can save owners’ money by avoiding unnecessary oil changes.

Oil-jet piston cooling: At higher engine speeds, small jets spray oil on the underside of each piston. This helps reduce piston temperature, enabling the engine to maintain maximum horsepower and torque, and also reduces engine noise.

PCV-integrated rocker covers: New domed rocker covers house a patent-pending integrated positive crankcase ventilation system that enhances oil life, reduces oil consumption and reduces exhaust emissions. The domed sections of the covers contain baffles that separate oil and air from the crankcase gases, with about three times the oil/air separation capability of previous engines.

Exhaust manifolds: The exhaust manifolds were developed to improve durability and sealing and reduce operating noise. The cast iron manifolds feature saw cuts along their cylinder head mounting flange, which split the flange into three separate sections on the V-6 and four separate sections on the V-8s, allowing each section to move under extreme hot-cold temperature fluctuations to virtually eliminate movement of the exhaust manifold gaskets. That helps ensure proper sealing for the life of the engine and reduces the chance of gasket failure. The exhaust manifolds also feature triple-layer stainless steel heat shields, which limit heat transfer to the engine bay and help further reduce noise.

Cooling system, humidity sensor and more: Additional features and technologies of new Silverado and Sierra engines include:

  • A revised cooling system with an offset water pump and thermostat for more efficient performance
  • An air induction humidity sensor ensures optimal combustion efficiency, regardless of the surrounding air’s humidity
  • All engines feature an engine-driven mechanical vacuum pump to enhance braking performance
  • 58X ignition system with individual ignition coil modules and iridium-tip spark plugs
  • All-new “E92” engine controller.

General Motors’ investment in the new EcoTec3 engine family will create or retain more than 1,600 jobs in five North American plants, including Tonawanda, New York, which recently received upgrades to support its production.

 

 

 

Chevrolet releases photos of next-generation Silverado

In our Twitter feed today, we saw Chevy post a pic of the next generation Silverado. Not much is known about the General Motors pickup, but once again, we can only guess and tell you what’s being said in the rumor mill.

It’s been predicted by other blogs and news sources that the Silverado will pack the next-gen V8 engine, and rumor also has it that GM is working on a turbocharged V6 to compete in fuel efficiency against Ford’s six-cylinder EcoBoost.

Earlier today, we reported that GM and Ford are teaming up to make a transmission for its compact vehicles, but perhaps some of those ideas will be seen in pickups as automakers strive to meet the government’s fuel efficiency standards.

As the cliché goes, only time will tell …

Man arrested, charged with stealing his own truck

If a shop was helping you work on your ride, and you left it parked there thinking it was safe, we’d imagine finding out it was stolen would be pretty heart-breaking.

But if you’re the one stealing your own vehicle, then something’s just not right.

A man in Delaware stole his 1999 Chevy Silverado from a repair shop that was holding the truck because he defaulted on payments.

According to the New York Daily News, cops called the truck’s owner and left a voicemail to inform him it was stolen. The truck owner called back and admitted to taking it.

The man used a front-end loader to do it. When police got report of the loader driving through a wooded area, they chased after the vehicle, the story said.

A 35-minute pursuit took place and ended when the truck driver drove into a pond. He swam to shore and was arrested with several offenses.

Perhaps if he was a PowerBlock fan, he would know how to save a little money and do the repairs himself …
