Most documented Hemi-powered 1970 Dodge Charger goes to auction
Hemmings Daily reports that the world’s most documented Hemi-powered Dodge Charger is going to auction the week of May 14 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The 1970 classic is one of 56 hemi-powered four-speed Chargers, and one of 10 with the R/T trim. According to Hemmings, owner Steven Segal figured he knew as much as there was to know about the Charger when he bought it, and restored it with a non-numbers-matching, era-correct Hemi to replace the original engine.
However, after the Charger was featured in a magazine, a man cleaning out sales files at Suburban Dodge in Metuchen, New Jersey, found the original documentation of Segal’s Charger and sent it to him. Included in the documentation was the car’s original dealer order form, Chrysler invoice, notes from the negotiating process, delivery paperwork and dealer prep work order, Hemmings said.
