Charity mud run being held for ‘Buckwild’ star Shain Gandee

Many would assume that MTV reality stars become instantly rich at newfound fame of being on TV, but the cousin of ‘Buckwild’ star Shain Gandee, Ashley Gandee, told TMZ it couldn’t be further from the truth.

The family is having financial trouble with covering the Shain’s funeral, TMZ reports, so Ashley Gandee is helping coordinate a mud run that will take place tomorrow in Proctorville, Ohio, about 50 miles from Charleston, West Virginia, where “Buckwild” is shot.

There is a $10 charge for each vehicle, and Ashley’s shop, Gandee’s General Store in Crown City, Ohio, is also taking donations.

Shain’s 1984 Bronco was found Monday. A rep for the Kanawha County Sherrif’s Office says that Shain’s death was ruled an accident, and TMZ reported that the vehicle had stalled while Shain, his uncle, and a friend went off-roading. The truck’s exhaust pipe had been submerged in the mud, causing the gas to leak back into the vehicle.
