You’ll be seeing green this weekend as Courtney features “Jaded,” the 1966 Mustang restored by our very own Kevin Tetz from Trucks! He got the car back in 2002, and for a while thought it was beyond rescue, but look at it now! It has an ’04 Cobra supercharged 4.6 engine with an Eaton blower that makes around 600 horsepower. Kevin wanted to marry modern performance and styling cues into his classic pony car and he did with great success! It has a custom wrap around bumper and custom Shelby-styled rear body panels. It sits on a Schwartz Performance full frame chassis and Forgeline Wheels with BFG rubber. Kevin enlisted the help of T.C. Penick of Bay One Customs as well as a lot of his friends to finish the car to make the SEMA show last year in the Heat Shield Products booth. It’s one gorgeous muscle car you need to see May 18 & 19 on PowerBlock.
Courtney gives you an advance look at the new car movie “Clutch.” It’s a true gearhead flick with more than 150 vehicles in it and more 70 of them are classic muscle cars. We’re talking $5.5 million worth of cars! It was inspired by the classic car movies like “Bullet,” “Two Lane Blacktop,” “LeMans,” and “Grand Prix.” Jay Rowlands is Courtney’s guest this weekend; he’s the writer, producer, star and director. He enlisted the help of his car club using a range of cars from a $750,000 ’69 Penske Trans Am race Camaro all the way down to an $8,000 ’68 Camaro stunt car. Jay plays small town racer Travis Engels who tries to find some shortcuts to victory lane and in the process puts himself and his closet friends at risk. “Clutch” is available on first release DVD and BlueRay and you can see some clips on PowerBlock May 4 & 5.
Off-road stadium truck racing is back! Robby Gordon has resurrected something very similar to the old Mickey Thompson Stadium Series, but he’s taking it to another level. Race truck driver Jesse Johnson will join Courtney this weekend to tell you all about Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Truck Series. Jesse is the younger brother of five-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson. Racing up to 40 identically prepared 650 horsepower trucks, some of the world’s top racers will compete at 12 of the biggest stadiums in the U.S. These trucks weigh only 3000 lbs., so you’re guaranteed to see fast, furious, door to door racing action. The next event is April 21 in Long Beach, CA, followed by a race at the L.A. Coliseum April 27. Meet Jesse Johnson on PowerBlock April 13 & 14. For more on the series visit StadiumSuperTrucks.com
This weekend we welcome 2012 NHRA Funny Car World Champion Jack Beckman to PowerBlock! Jack will join Courtney with his 8000 horse Valvoline/Battery Extender Dodge Charger. The University of Northwestern Ohio races! UNOH president Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis is Courtney’s guest this weekend along with one of the school’s race cars. Located in Lima, Ohio, students can earn an automotive degree, a diesel degree, an AG degree or a high performance motorsports degree. Their training is about 70% hands-on and they can get ASE certified. The UNOH high performance motorsports program also has a race team with 30 students each year. They race all kinds of vehicles including stock cars, dragsters and 4 by 4’s. The students build the cars from the ground up and when finished, they can be pit crew, crew chief, or race car drivers. UNOH even owns their own race track, Limaland Motorsports Park. The success of the program is evident — 42 UNOH graduates are working any given weekend where NASCAR has Nationwide and Cup races. And they’re involved with all the top teams from Richard Childress Racing to Hendricks Motorsports to Penske Racing.
Check it out on PowerBlock November 3 & 4. For more go to www.UNOH.edu
Join Courtney this weekend as she reveals the “Mustang Build Powered By Women!” Hypertech’s Marla Moore and Ford’s Jennifer Seely will stop in to preview this pony car that you’ll be able to bid on to own. Earlier this summer an all-female team from the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network, 40 in total who all work in the automotive aftermarket, came together in the Source Interlink Media “Hot Rod” garage to make history and build a tricked out 2013 Ford Mustang. Over 30 companies donated over 50 parts, including Ford with the Mustang GT, Edelbrock with a supercharger, Magnaflow donated an exhaust, Wilwood donated brakes, P-Zero tires from Pirelli and Forgeline gave GA1R wheels with a custom finish, as well as numerous parts from Summit Racing and products from Royal Purple. Jennifer came up with the winning design for the car that will be unveiled at SEMA October 30 in the Ford booth. Then it goes up for auction on eBay with all proceeds benefiting the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Last, but certainly not least — check out this killer resto Greg Rogers did on a very rough ’68 Chevy C-10. He swapped out the old 307, 2 barrel, three on the three, for a 383 Stroker automatic built by TNT Engineering that makes 425hp. Gary Hibdon did all the body and paint work, spending six weeks on the rear bed alone. As his first ever resto, Greg replaced just about everything on the truck. It’s wrapped in PPG Concept, GM Light Green and White and rolls on 20 inch Toys Wheels and Toyo rubber. Check it out on PowerBlock October 27 & 28. For more go to www.sema.org/SEMAMustangBuild
Join us this weekend on PowerBlock as WD-40’s Shannon Edwards gives you a sneak peak at their two auction trucks. Both will be designed and built by Chip Foose. One is a 60th anniversary ’53 F-100 that pays homage to the company’s early years delivering product to keep Atlas missiles free from rust. The 2nd custom truck is a 2012 F-350 Super Duty salute to all workers who use and love WD-40. After their debut at the SEMA show the F-350 will hit the road making appearances and then later auctioned off with proceeds funding the SEMA Cares scholarship program. The ’53 F-100 auction will benefit SEMA Cares charities Childhelp and The Victory Junction Gang Camps. WD-40 has raised over $400,000 for those two charities with their last three project builds.
