Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Michigan Wolverines inspired Chevy is unveiled! Tony Stewart out indefinitely

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart will be out for the season indefinitely following a second surgery on his right leg broken.

The NASCAR driver broke his tibia and fibula after colliding with another car during a sprint race in Iowa earlier this week.

According to USA Today, Max Papis will substitute for Stewart this weekend at Watkins Glen International, and an interim driver hasn’t been determined for any future races.

Tony Stewart breaks leg in Sprint Cup crash in Iowa

When you tell someone to “break a leg,” very rarely is it often meant to be taken literally.

Unfortunately, NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart did just that in a crash at a track in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Stewart broke the tibia and fibula in his right leg. USA Today reports that there were five laps remaining in the 30-lap Front Row Challenge when Josh Higday’s car spun on Turn 4 and collected the top three cars, which included Stewart’s.

Track officials said in the story that Stewart was conscious and talking to responders after being placed on a stretcher. He was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery.

Stewart will miss this weekend’s NASCAR race at Watkins Glen, and it’s likely he’ll miss other races while he works on his recovery.

Thoughts and prayers are with Stewart, his family and all involved while he recovers. Feel free to leave a comment below, or send us a tweet to @PowerBlockTV.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Up In Smoke

An engine failure ended Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s bid to win his first NASCAR race since last June. He lost a cylinder and then, shortly thereafter, his engine expired altogether in a ball of smoke. This is just one of many issues that have prevented Hendrick Motorsports from winning races that historically it has dominated.

First Jeff Gordon’s wreck just six laps in, followed by Kasey Kahne crashing out of the lead just before Earnhardt’s engine went sour, and capped off by Jimmie Johnson hitting the wall while running second with two laps remaining. This was the first time since 2005 that Hendrick failed to have a car finish in the top 10.

However, during post-race interviews Earnhardt Jr. only had praise for his race team, and seemed to be remaining positive even in the face of his missed opportunity.
