This may be the rarest, most expensive car we’ve ever had on PowerBlock! This weekend Courtney features the only 1967 Shelby GT500 convertible ever built! Brian & Samantha Styles got the car and hired Shelby specialist Jeff Yergovich of R & A Motorsports to transform it back to its original state when Carroll Shelby owned it. But not one nut or bolt was touched until a year’s worth of research was done on the history of this pony car through photographs and interviews of former Shelby employees. The Styles created a website for Shelby enthusiasts and Shelby employees to contribute ideas. Jeff’s team had to duplicate the prototype fiberglass pieces by hand. It’s got a 428 Police Interceptor with two four barrel carburetors. It has unique 10 spoke wheels with Goodyear tires that Carroll loved. And the interior is show car worthy and it later became the ’68 styling prototype and photographic car. Some of the firsts for this rare car: It’s the only 1967 Shelby GT convertible built, it has the only big block GT convertible built by Shelby American, Inc, it is the only dual-quad carbureted Ford Mustang convertible and/or Shelby GT convertible built, and it’s the first big block Shelby GT convertible built.
See it on PowerBlock April 27th & 28th.
